Buyers new to Egyptian supply usually have the commercial side worked out and the procedural side half-formed. The grade is decided and the volume is known, but the delivery term, the inspection arrangement and the document set are left to "we will sort that out later" — and later is where the delay happens.
This page covers what to settle before an order, not after.
Decide the delivery term first
The delivery term determines who arranges and pays for carriage, insurance and the risk transfer point. Agreeing it early changes the shape of every subsequent conversation, because an FOB figure and a CIF figure are not comparable and quoting one against the other wastes a round trip.
Tell us which term you work on. Shipping can be arranged as part of the supply if you would rather deal with one counterparty from enquiry to discharge.
Packaging affects more than price
Bulk bags, 50 kg sacks and bulk each imply different handling at both ends. A buyer with no mechanical handling at the discharge point should not order bulk however attractive the figure looks, and a buyer moving volume should not pay for sacks they will immediately cut open. Bag type, liner, marking and loading arrangement are confirmed per order.
Documentation
The document set depends on your destination and your own import requirements, which vary by country and change over time. Rather than list them here and risk being out of date, we ask buyers to state the documents their import requires at enquiry stage, and we confirm what can be supplied against that list before the offer is issued.
Commonly requested: certificate of analysis for the supplied batch, certificate of origin, packing list, bill of lading, and where applicable an inspection certificate. Confirm the current requirements with your own customs broker or the relevant authority in your destination — regulatory sources are the authority here, not a supplier's website.
Inspection
If you want third-party inspection at loading, say so at enquiry stage. It affects the timeline and the cost, and arranging it after an offer is accepted usually means repricing.
A realistic timeline
Enquiry to offer is quick when the enquiry is complete. The delays come from incomplete enquiries — a missing destination, an unstated intended use, or packaging left open — because each gap costs a round trip of messages before anything can be priced.
Our bulk quotation checklist sets out exactly what to send. Buyers who use it typically get a complete offer on the first reply.
